Partnerships and Customized Programs

People in conflict cannot fulfill the mission of their organization or meet the demands of their job. Managing organization-wide conflict requires more than training: systemic conflict requires cultural change.

Common Ground Institute (CGI) works with businesses, organizations, schools, communities, and government agencies to create long-lasting cultural change and help improve how people relate to one another.

You know your organization’s mission is suffering when you have:

  1. Procedural Conflict: Conflict over how to get things done or who does what; the lack of transparency; exclusion from decision-making
  2. Interpersonal Conflict: Personality clashes; mutual dislike or disrespect; unresolved grievances
  3. Communicative Conflicts: Incomplete information; miscommunications; indirect communication; email/text misunderstandings; failure to clarify expectations; different communication styles
  4. Value-Related Conflicts: Disagreements about fairness, responsibility; cultural or ideological differences, organizational purpose
  5. Conflicts over Authority and Role: Supervisor–employee tensions; teacher–administrator disagreements; conflicts over leadership style; boundary disputes between roles; perceived micromanagement or lack of oversight
  6. Conflict over Resources: Conflict arising from scarcity or perceived inequity; budget disputes; access to compensation, time, space, staffing; workload distribution
  7. Identity or Status Conflict: Feeling undervalued, marginalized; inclusion/exclusion dynamics; generational differences; group-based tensions
  8. Conflict over Change and Transition: Organizational restructuring; policy changes; new leadership; curriculum or program changes; technology adoption; shifting community expectations
  9. Entrenched Conflict: Conflict that has moved beyond the original issue; polarization and faction formation; cycles of retaliation

CGI changes cultures by changing how people feel and relate to each other.
